Took a tour today as part of the Rose Festival. The gardens were beautiful with plenty of blooms. Always a good place for a quick stop or a liesurely walk through the gardens.
Great place for a little hide-n-seek too.
Visiting the Tyler Rose Garden is a much more complete experience if you start in the Tyler Rose Garden Museum -- it explains the history, pageantry, economy and technology of the the rose trade in Tyler. The splendor of the gowns, the first hand accounts of earlier promoters, the economy and community efforts at building up the rose business, all give you a sense how a community can pull together to do great things. There is a small fee for the museum (but none for the Rose Garden) -- I think it was less than $5.
Simple. Beautiful... A must visit particularly when roses are in full bloom.
Some people will find it boring, I on the other hand loved it. Shows a history of roses and the area, has a ton of vintage outfits, tiaras, you can go look at the rose garden, and the gift shop has some awesome unique rose items. I go back every year to get gifts for family.
I only ever come for the Rose Festival in October. The rose gardens are beautiful for the Roses but not very interesting as far as the layout of flower beds and paths so walking around is not really particularly interesting. I paid to go in the museum at my first visit but I didn't think it was worth going in there again. I have never gone in the gift shop.
