Well I'll say this about smith county , and ill try to keep it short. It's getting harder everyday to run into one person who hasn't visited this place once or twice , more so that actually did what they were put in there for. I know ....everyone is innocent right? Why do you think there is a saying ( come on vacation, leave on probation.)? Smith county is know for it's smith county justice. Most of the time the way an officer( gets the bad guy . ). Is to place himself around a person and use the phrase ( we had a call on a domestic dispute, and your truck matches a description. Or other false pretenses to ask to search or detain you until you might say the wrong thing or start getting aggravated so he can ( take you downtown for questioning ) book you in, which takes all damn night while your trying to use 1 of two phones to call anyone to help you get out , but they can't because your not booked in yet. I know keep it short . That was not a real life occasion I spoke of ( for me alone ) but seems to be alot of very similar fictitious stories coming from the same place of origin . Not a nice place. You are guilty until proven innocent and if you have no money ,prepare to be royally taken care of for a brief stay with no mistakes and justice will prevail . Cough ,cough .... one more thing quickly . They most definitely are not in it just for the money ...or make up laws like 180 day probated for ten years ....or after the ten years ...add two more...hmmm sounds like adding punishment to the same crime...child support....is a crime punishable by death...of your financial goals,future,life. That's not all ,but I'll end my rant here for now. I had to put one star ...they didn't have a set of negative numbers.
I gotta give um 5 stars polite and professional. Rare in most police dept. Sheriff Smith is the definition of what a sheriff should be. Honest polite and takes time to hear out the citizens. Sheriff Smith and all the Deputies ive met also believe in and uphold constitutional rights of the citizens. Im proud of them. They treated me fairly everytime ive had contact with them.
