My mother was a resident at Briarcliff for about 5 years. She had problems with the staff and other residents. Her illness would make her somewhat aggressive toward the staff and residents. So at the end of her stay there, they thought a behavioral center would be a go thing for her. Well come to find out they were just trying to get her out of there nursing home. The behavioral center informed me instead of the nursing home. This nursing home has alot of morons working on staff and should have contacted me to let me know of there intentions. Also, the day I went to move her belongings to her new place, there was a lot of her belongings missing. Looked like the rumaged through and took what they wanted, and I'm talking about the aids that work there. Bunch of thiefs working there if you ask me. So in short, I wouldn't recommend this nursing home to anyone.
I wouldn't allow my worst enemy, the privilege of being in this place. the staff is very rude, the food is terrible. My wife is here for rehab .And they treat her like a prisoner, There is no compassion. The staff walks the halls at night talking and laughing very loud, they seem to try to make as much noise at night as possible. They also treat visitors with no respect.
This place was recommended for a memory care rehab for my mother-in-law, 94 years old. When we went to see her I felt like I was visiting someone that was serving their last days of a death without parole sentence. I cried and we got her out of there as fast as we could. They were eating what they called chicken spaghetti, it was chicken noodle soup without the soup. It was awful. This place does not even deserve one star but it will not let me post without clicking a star. I would never recommend this place to no one. It needs to be closed down. No one that works there knows anything. They lied to us over and over.
A friend of mine was a patient there and is in critical condition as a result of, in my opinion, the neglectful care he received there. He developed additional problems there that I feel certain could have been easily avoided. Now he is headed to hospice.
Please don't subject your loved one to this horrible place.
We placed my mother at Briarcliff due to her Alzheimer's disease. Mom was very difficult, frequently refused to take a bath, had trouble making her needs known, and didn't sleep well at night. The staff were so caring. At night, when she woke up, they would bring her to the nursing station, make her a snack and visit with her until she was ready to go back to bed. They kept her busy with activities during the day. She gained weight and seemed less anxious. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease that robbed my mother of her memories. The staff helped me understand her disease process, so that I could cope. She lived at Briarcliff for three years befor she passed. I will never forget their kindness to my mother and my family.
